Tim is a cellist and conductor based in London. He studied with Amanda Truelove at the Royal College of Music. During his time at the RCM Tim had the pleasure of working with Bernard Haitink, John Wilson, Rafael Payare, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Maxim Vengerov, Steve Reich, and Alexander Polishchuk.
His orchestral work includes performances with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra in the Jersey Opera House with conductor Eamonn Dougan. Highlights include Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto with soloist Ana Federova, and Mozart’s piano concerto K. 466 with soloist Peter Donohoe. Tim has also played with the Orion Orchestra under the baton of Toby Purser, and is a regular cellist with the Minehead Festival Orchestra, currently conducted by Chris Stark.
As part of the Delphi Quartet, Tim has performed at the Marylebone Music Festival, Brighton Festival, and Kensington Concert Series. The Quartet held the Junior Fellows position at the Aberystwyth MusicFest, supporting clarinet quintet masterclasses guided by David Campbell and Donald Oehler. The course’s repertoire included Brahms, Mozart, Weber, Fuchs, and Baermann. The festival culminated in a performance of the Busch saxophone Quintet with Lars Lien, and Weinberg’s 3rd String Quartet.
Tim has performed with singer songwriter Roo Panes at the Barbican, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Minack Theatre, and the Crumb in Penzance. Tim also enjoys working as a session cellist, recording with artists including Buzzcock’s guitarist Steve Diggle at Abbey Road Studios, Blanco White, Tom Holder, Lottie Gabriel, Roo Panes, and Patrick Dow. He plays regularly at functions and weddings with various other string quartets and trios.
Tim has played in several Music Theatre productions, notably The Distance You Have Come – A Scott Allen Song Cycle at the Cockpit Theatre in Marylebone and at the Apollo Theatre in the West End. He has performed American Idiot at Mountview Theatre Academy, Cinderella by Rogers and Hammerstein at the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells, and Anastasia at the Bromley Youth Music Trust.

In 2019, Tim started conducting the Bromley Adult Musician’s Orchestra (BAMO). Following a surge in members after the pandemic, the orchestra has performed more ambitious repertoire. Tim’s highlights from his concerts with BAMO would be performances of Schumann’s 4th Symphony, Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, and Schubert’s 8th Symphony (Unfinished). The orchestra is looking forward to its 2026 concerts, with programmes featuring Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, and music from The Snowman.
Tim has studied conducting with Peter Stark, Richard Dickins, Jacques Cohen, and Jonathan Butcher. He has conducted the Dorking Chamber Orchestra (including leading their 2025 autumn workshop on Schubert’s Tragic Symphony), the Redhill Sinfonia, the Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra, the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Ex-Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra. He has also enjoyed conducting a series of string workshops, the highlights of which include Shostakovich String Quartet No. 8, Tchaikovsky and Elgar Serenade for Strings, Schubert’s final String Quartet in G, and the Suite from Bernard Hermann’s Psycho.
Tim is a licensed cello teacher with the Bromley Youth Music Trust, and also teaches privately.
